About Me:
I love to create things. I love seeing raw materials take shape and turn into new and exciting things.
Seeing a pile of shiny new rings turn into intricate chainmail jewelry... seeing some brightly colored socks turn into a new Sock Friend... seeing spools of wire and a few beads turn into expressive, vibrant pendants.
The process is as much a thrill for me as the end result.

Itching for More?

Wanna be featured on my blog?

I was having so much fun here with Before & After pics, that I decide to start a whole blog with that as the theme. I will be posting some of my own, as well as lots of featured Before & Afters from others.

Check it out at kinichiriver.blogspot.com.

If you have a Makeover or Before & After you'd like to share, just send me a message and I'd be happy to consider it for my blog. It does not ha… Continue

Old Sweaters make great cat toys

So I have recently discovered that I love taking apart old sweaters. Not saying it makes sense, but I do. I think I usually get the urge when I am on creative overload and need to take a break and do something non-creative for a bit. I spend some time cutting the pilled bits off the sweater, taking the peices apart and then unraveling it and rolling up the yarn into balls. It takes a long while, but I find it oddly satisfying.

Problem is, I don't really do anything with the increasing

Before and After

I have discovered recently that I really have a fondness for make-overs. Any kind - people, houses, what-have-you. And not just makeovers, but I love to see how things change. Its all about the Before and After pictures. Love 'em!

Here is a Before and After I wanted to share:

Thinking about the holidays and thinking about the environment...

I'm surprised to be thinking about Christmas and the winter holidays already, but I guess as a seller/retailer this is about the right time.

Christmas time often makes me think about the environment, as I feel that there are so many holiday practices that are wasteful. One of the big ones I think of is wrapping paper. I just want to share one thing that I do to combat this:

Wrapping gifts in magazine pages!

I've been collecting old magazines from anyone w

Save Handmade Children's Items From the CPSIA

I thought you might be interested in getting involved and recommend you check it out. Please help us save handmade toys, clothing & accessories for our children. & save the businesses of all the crafty people who create toys!

If you buy or sell handmade children's items (or even items that could be considered for kids) & live ANYWHERE in the world, this law will effect you!!

You can read more and vote for the idea by clicking the following link:

http://www.change.org/ideas/view/save_handmade_toys_from_the_cpsia

The top 10 ideas are going to be presented to the Obama Administration on Inauguration Day and will be supported by a national lobbying campaign run by Change.org, MySpace, and more than a dozen leading nonprofits after the Inauguration. So each idea has a real chance at becoming policy.

ALSO, please check the Etsy forums for other ways to get involved, contact your govt representatives & make your voice heard on this issue.

Thanks for your time!

Do you DaWanda?

I know many of us here on Indie Public sell on Etsy but do you also sell on DaWanda?

I am putting together a 5 part blog post over this weekend to talk about how to use DaWanda to expand your business, why it can benefit you, who is buying on DaWanda & what you need to know to be successful there!
