I have been making Ukrainian eggs for about 10 years. I taught myself how to do it from a book that I had bought for my Grandmother – but since she never tried it she gave it back to me and I have loved doing it ever since. In the last couple of years I have enjoyed sharing my eggs by selling online and at bazaars. My 3 yr old keeps me pretty busy and I have to be creative with my time management!

Otherwise known as “Pysanky”, Ukrainian Eggs are an ancient art form still practiced today. These are done in the traditional way of using beeswax and dye in a wax resistant process, or batik-like process, on blown eggs. The whole process takes many hours to complete, the total time depending on the intricacy of the design and size of the egg. The symbols and colors decorating the eggs have special meanings, and can often mean many different things.
