About Me:

well! i've been obsessed with beads and photography on and off for a long time. only recently did i sit down and start making my creations for other people! i'm obsessed with learning new things, and the idea of making things i need instead of buying them, but i'm too impatient (and cheap! ha!) to take classes--i'm always looking to find quick and dirty demos of new techniques online!

away from crafting, i enjoy music and art festivals, documentaries and the like. i read a ton--the library is my best friend! i love to cook, and if i had a dishwasher (instead of just my own two hands!) i'm sure i would cook even more! i have a very handsome black cat named goose who loves to sit on whatever i'm working on at the time. travel and language are probably my biggest passions--i've studied latin, italian, french, mandarin, arabic and turkish, and traveled throughout europe, egypt, turkey and most recently peru! in march 2008 i spent a month volunteering in peru to help rebuild the city of pisco which was devastated from a massive earthquake in august 2007--probably one of the best experiences of my life!

i try to do my part for the environment by not buying shipping and packing materials but reusing and upcycling instead! also, i participate in freecycle, an online community devoted to giving and receiving free items in good shape instead of throwing them away or buying new ones unnecessarily.

Favorite Music/Musicians:

a lot of different music, and it changes all the time, but right now my favorite is probably bluegrass, or alt-country or whatever you want to call music with banjos and fiddles! i just saw the avett brothers in concert last week and it was awesome!

Favorite TV Show & Movies:

shows on hbo, like six feet under and the wire, absurd cartoons like those found on adult swim, and game shows--i love jeopardy!

Favorite Books / Authors:

satire is by far my favorite genre... i love kurt vonnegut!
