That's a lovely picture !! You will see doors opening into courtyard and secret narrow passageways in our old cities everywhere. There's an amazing amount to be discovered !
Oh and don't forget the Chocolate !! and the beer ..
Oh yes! I brought back 80 euros worth of Neuhaus in my carry on so none of the baggage checkers would nick it. I had a friend who brought some back and had it in her luggage and someone who checked the bags swiped 2 of her 3 boxes. Over here we have Godiva but I got the Neuhaus because I don't think it is as common. I love the lace and tapestries. I bought some eyeglasses there designed by Philippe Geluck. I love them. I think I must be a Belgian at heart.
If ever you come back I would advise you to go into a supermarket and buy our chocolate there. We have some great brands at a much lower price right there ! We just had some bad news ...prices of chocolate are going up by 20 percent next year because the USA is being up all the powdered milk ??? I don't really understand...I geuss it's difficult to make powdered milk ?
Did you know that Godiva is Belgian , but it was bought by Campbell's ...and I hear they are now selling it off again...
Perhaps I should have started a chocolate import business 30 years ago when I was living in the US :)
I bought some at the grocery and it was great too. Actually I thought I might have been better off just getting that instead. It was called Cote d'Or and It is really good I like the 70% or more chocolates.
You should have started that import business - now chocolate is a big thing here - especially since the scientists have said that it has antioxidant properties.
Americans love Belgian chocolates. Hershey's is trying to make better chocolates and I bet they are the ones buying up the milk.
