I'm basically in the same boat as Theresa. They all either make jewelry or live too far away to help. I have left business cards on a few bulletin boards though. As far as I know, nothing has come of it though.

Shame I don't have any friends other than those who already make jewelry!! lol and all my husband's family are in England. Though when I started making jewelry we were living over there and my SIL took it all to work and sold most of it. Maybe I need to move back there!

Also, look for bulletin boards in small shops. We have a British store we go to and as you walk in the door they have one and I put my card up on there.

WOW. GReat idea about the fishbowls! I need to get my husband to do that. He's a great advcocate, and now that he's seeing the money (I.E. me making custom orders for people and seeing the extra $$ going into the grocery budget, he's starting to come around. He's always supported my jewelry for the hobby aspect, but he's giving it more props now that he knows it's not just playing and that I can earn some serious money if I get my stuff into some seriously good situations.

I have a friend who works in a doctor's office, and she says she'll do the same as April's -- model it and sell for me. I need to get on the stick and get her a few pieces. It's better investment then Project Ownderful at this point.

If I was better with figuring out the computer stuff, I'd learn which sites grab me the most views, and adv. on them more. I discovered Entrecard's statistics page, and I have GA, but Project Wonderful isn't very user friendly (slow load) so I'm not sure how that one's going. Craft cult actually brings views, did you know that? without advertising. I figure people are checking out their shop hearts on CC and clicking through. Funny. If it translates into sales, I'll do it. Just trying to figure out what to do most efficiently.

Always marketing...hey, I resemble that remark!! But we're always marketing something, whether it's a most recent restaurant we visited, or the best spaghetti sauce...why not our wearable art!?!

Yeah, sadly sales have been slow. My husband has a job where he goes to a lot of offices and they have those fishbowls where you leave your business card. He drops mine in them all the time. Don't know if anyone has looked at them or my jewelry but I did notice on my GA that I have an enormous amount of hits from Las Vegas. Might be from Twitter too since I'm following a lot of locals.

One year and 50 sales is pretty darn good. I'm just at 20 and been on Etsy almost a year and a half. I don't have a lot of "connections" so it has been harder for me to promote. I stop by your blog with Entrecard and I think that helps for views too. I'm thinking of doing a giveaway on my blog for June so maybe that will help get more views and maybe some sales.

Not lately, sales have been really slow. I figure, though, that it's a numbers game. I've been advertising on Project Wonderful, Entercard and Linkreferral (though not much of the matter recently) , as well. I've been watching the Time Machine, too, and noticing that there's not much jewelry at all selling on Etsy right now. I know it's up to me to get the news out there. My Facebook membership and fan page has actually gotten me more attention than anything else recently.

You know the best technique I've used to get new sales? Referrals. I have family members email their friends and recommend me personally, and this has helped. I'm trying to branch out and have more affordable price points, but I don't want to spread myself too thin. It's frustrating, for sure!

I'm approaching my first anniversary on Etsy. I'm pushing to get 50 sales, 7 more, in three days. Kind of a pipe dream, but I thought it was a worthy goal.

Laura, you get views but do you get SALES?? I've been using his info on Project Wonderful ads and not had any luck yet.

Timothy Adam has a great way to get instant views on yout new listings (see his new online Etsy FREE selling course on his blog) ...and when I twitter ANY listing, even an old one, I get 10 views just about instantly...Basically, you blog about it, twiter it, facebook it and post it on your fan page. THen you shout it out in the forums...weekends are always the best time to list, but sometimes you need to make a little more noise.

I'd wait, I listed a pair of earrings Friday afternoon and got NO views for ages. Will wait till next weekend to list more.
