I opened my store mid July and have not sold anything yet. I suspect there are a few things that I'm not doing but haven't but the effort into it yet. ( better pics, listing items every day, etc). I was able to make my 1st sale at a local fair.

If you haven't checked out EtsyWiki yet... here's the link http://www.etsywiki.com/index.php?title=Main_Page

Good luck!

I have been on Etsy a little more then a week. I have joined streetteams and created my own blog, and great communities like this one. I made my first sale two days ago. My only advise is sell yours self. Post in forms, blog and get involved in everything. Get your name and shop name out there were people can see it

I've been selling on etsy for the past year and a half, and have had a good success. Though it has taken a long time for me to get to a position where I have a fairly steady stream of sales. Part of this is down to taking the time to take good photography, and listing as often as possiable.

Hi Harold,

I've sold on Etsy and I've researched other sites that people sell handmade goods, you can see that info here: Review: Other Places to sell handmade

I personally believe that if you have a product that satisfies the needs of a consumer and you market your product well, you will see sales. If it's a new product that no one has ever seen before, it's going to take a while to develop your brand awareness among consumers.

I joined last October, but due to my local holiday volume, I didn't get listing till this July. I have had a decent amount of sales.

The volume of items is so high, some tips people have said is staggering your listings as things get "buried" to keep yourself up top. Blog and join in on forums and promote yourself.

Best of luck!

I haven't sold anything I listed on Etsy yet although it's only been a week or so. I have however had success with people requesting custom orders after they found my shop :)

Hi!

I made my 1st listing on Etsy on Aug 13. I have 2 small sales now but i had to promote really alot for them. Why dont you give it a try? the listing cost is low and the items stays listed for 4 months so you could alwasy try to list a few items and see how they go.

As i'm new at Etsy i'm also juts in the "testing water" stage :)

I have had ups and downs on Etsy. Overall I think I've done ok. I've been on it for over a year now and it really is more about promoting and getting people to visit your shop.

I've had luck. It took me awhile to get out there on Etsy, and you definitly have to promote to make it work. But it's worth it, and simply; why not? It doesn't cost very much to list (and entire 20 cents)...so just give it a shot, and see if it works for you or not, because you never know until you try! :o)

I love etsy. I sell promotional products (thepromoshop.etsy.com) on etsy and that is my main course of income. Very nice people on etsy.

I just started selling collaboration goodies on etsy (heyprettycupcake.etsy.com) and it has been ok, a little slower than my other shop :D

I can vouch for thepromoshops goods - I ordered some little badges and such from them - they turned out great! :)

We have been on etsy since May this year, we are doing pretty well so far. The thing that really got us sales was being on the home page inside someones treasury, this gave us tons of exposure - so I would have to say that product photos are really important on this site, I feel like it is the main thing that spikes peoples attention and interest because etsy has such a visually based interface, so put as much thought and effort in to them as you can :)

I say go for it though, it's really fun and rewarding!
